Question Error inserting wl driver for BCM43142 into Rawhide Kernel

I installed Rawhide into a Toshiba SkullCandy laptop recently. Currentyl, the wireless device isn't showing up. lspci says its a Broadcom BCM43142 device. So I installed akmod and broadcom-wl. The installation went fine but device is not showing up yet.

My last interaction via the terminal shows:

# akmod --force
Checking kmods exist for 4.9.0-1.fc26.x86_64 [OK]

# modprobe wl
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'wl': permission denied
I'm not sure how to proceed from here. I haven't found a similar case that may give a hint yet. Any ideas?
