Planet Fedora

This site provides international news about Fedora. While mostly in English, there are also Spanish and French postings.

Today there is an excellent two Must read articles within http://fedoraplanet.org/

I consider them interestingly enough to recommend them here.
Visit PlanetFedora and enjoy.

Re: Planet Fedora

It's interesting what people post on planet Fedora and Fedora Magazine and shows to some extent how fragmented Fedora Project is at times.

The spins are supposedly official but at the same time generally ignored for press releases written by Red Hat Employees, sent to the likes of Softpedia and Fedora Project Announcement Press Release creators who write a one liner about them as an after thought to the main 'flavours'. Apparently therefore it is up to the Spin creators to do their own releases and marketing. BUT they have to apply for permission to use Fedora branding if posting anything in the public domain. You'd think as official Spin Creators that permission would be implied but apparently not.

Also, the fragmented layout of the get fedora website, labs website and spins website adds to the appearance of a very dis-jointed community. Workstation is the default BUT the Fedora Project should shout about the official alternatives to this DE if they really consider them official spins. They seem to be officially supported for bugs and updates etc. but for everything else a grey area and only applies when it suits.

Spins are created by Fedora Project User Community Contributors and it's abundantly clear Red Hat do not care to be associated with anything other than GNOME (Wayland).

therefore to stop alienating existing users and losing potential new users, SIG groups need to communicate much better with Fedora Project, Fedora sub-projects, and pool resources when new pre-releases and releases are available so that everyone is singing from the same song sheet and a uniform brand web page style sheet is applied across the board to keep a professional image and minimise confusion.

Re: Planet Fedora

In the past few days, in fact everyday, there are most interesting postings to fedoraplanet.org
Today there is a posting in Spanish. Other days, it would be English, German, etc.
For some languages, I avail myself of Google translate.

This AM's posting is in Spanish. I think I get the gist of the posting. Very interesting...

If you scroll past the Spanish stuff, the same information is posted in English.
Interestingly, Pictures are the international language (Esperanto??)
