After yum update, I only get blank white screen after startup
Today, after doing a yum update, when I startup Fedora to my KDE Desktop I only get a blank white screen with some large icons (large red-white "close buttons") at the top. (For some reason, one firefox window is also showing).
I can use CTRL+ALT+F2 to get a command line, and from there I can start an instance of Gnome with 'startx', but this doesn't really solve the problem.
(This isn't strictly related to Installation, but to 'yum update').
I'm running Fedora 17, my main windows manager is KDE (Gnome is also installed).
My last relevant commands were
-yum erase tex.texlive-en-doc texlive-texlive-common-doc (I did this because otherwise I couldn't use yum udpate. I haven't used yum update since a few weeks)
-yum update
Please help me.
Thanks.

Use
and then
followed by the number of the most recent item and post it here so we can see exactly what packages got changed. You may have lost more than just what you erased. Also - have you tried replacing the packages you removed?
