How to enable Swap partition Fedora Mate 25

Hello guys,

I installed Fedora Mate 25, and forgot to enable the Swap partition when I installed it.
On the HD has a Swap partition created.
How do I make the Swap partition stay turned on every time I turn on the computer?

Thank you.

Re: How to enable Swap partition Fedora Mate 25

Now that you have created the swap partition, use the command mkswap to setup the swap partition. Find out the correct mount point for your swap partition using

Code:
fdisk -l
At a shell prompt as root, type the following (IMPORTANT replace hdb2 with your swap partition's mount point in all the following commands) :
  1. Code:
    mkswap /dev/hdb2
  2. To enable the swap partition immediately, type the following command:
    Code:
    swapon /dev/hdb2
  3. To enable it at boot time, edit /etc/fstab to include:
    Code:
    /dev/hdb2 swap swap defaults 0 0
  4. The next time the system boots, it enables the new swap partition.
  5. After adding the new swap partition and enabling it, verify it is enabled by viewing the output of the command cat /proc/swaps or free.

Hello antikythera,
Thank you for your help.
Now I have the swap partition enabled when the computer is turned on.

Look at the output command: free -h

Mem: 1,9G 1,1G 90M 185M 740M 452M
Swap: 2,0G 252K 2,0G

Well, you don't actually need a swap partition. A swap file has the same performance.

Everything you ever need to know about swap is explained very nicely and clearly, with examples and everything, in the swapon man page:
$ man swapon
